Sony Pictures plans to release a musical film composed from 80 hours of rehearsal footage shot in preparation for the 50 London concerts Jackson was preparing when he died June 25.
Named after the title of those concerts, which Jackson had vowed would be his last, the movie This Is It is scheduled for release Oct. 30.
The film will open simultaneously nationwide and around the world on that date, Sony Pictures spokesman Steve Elzer says. It's a quick turnaround for a movie, but Elzer says editors have been at work on the footage since before the deal was struck, and the remaining two months will be plenty of time to complete the project. "We're not rushing it, but we do want to get it out there," he says.
Tickets will go on-sale on September 27th and the movie will only be seen in theaters for two weeks.

MTV remembered the music, life, and career of Michael Jackson the the channel's annual MTV Video Music Awards in Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
The tribute was introduced by Madonna who spoke of her personal friendship with Michael and said "you have to lose someone to realize how much you appreciate them."
Featuring some of Michael's greatest videos including Thriller , Smooth Criminal and Bad , the tribute ends with Janet performing her duet with Michael, Scream , and dancing with him on video as a recreation of the video performance from their 1995 hit single (which still currently holds the title of most expensive video every made...over $9 million dollars in 2008 figures).

I grew up listening to his music and I was always amazed by his voice, his moves, his personality and even after I've been a rock'n'roll type of guy who would mostly listen to big rock artists like Metallica and such, I still had Michael Jackson as my idol in pop music, probably the only one I'd listen to in that genre;
I think God didn't really care if he was to redeem himself with his last concert (This Is It) I guess he already had work to do up there and was urgently needed!

What a sad event - MJI was in complete shock when word came down that Micheal Jackson passed away. We all just need to remember what a musical god he was and that so many were touched in one way or another by his music. He truly paved the way for so many other artists and will be missed. May god be with his children!

When Angles fly home, those left behind search for answers and reasons,

March 2009 - MJI heard Tamara's emotional distress when you called her and I truly feel bad for her.
Yet on the same hand I don't understand taking off work to mourn someone that wasn't close like a father, brother or friend
Maybe something like her distress about an entertainer that touched her heart can let us be grateful for the people around us. - Michael and TamaraWe also thought about Tamara. My wife and I thought she would be hit hard by Michael's passing.
- MJQuite a shock. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson since his days with the Jackson 5, and I loved his music. He was definitely the greatest entertainer of all time, his talent unmatched. Despite all of the craziness and negativity he brought upon himself late in his career, I was really hoping that he could redeem himself with the tour he was planning. However, as saddened as I am today, I am not so distraught that I couldn't make it to work; c'mon Tamara G...gimme a break. If people didn't show for work every time one of our pop idols passes away...I think you know where I'm going with this. Tamara G is very lucky to have an employer that somehow understands.
- MJI, like so many others am heartbroken over Michael’s death. I am the same age as he was so I grew up watching him perform. I immediately thought of Tamara knowing how she loved him, please let her know I am thinking of her.
He was such a talented performer, his music made you want to dance. I am not a dancer but I was in a dance class with my sister when I was young, we signed up for a dance recital and the song was Michael Jackson's Pretty Young Thing. I had always been too shy to get up on stage in front of people but there was something about that song..I did it and will always remember that. - MICHAEL/FARRAHI am deaply sadden by the tragic death of the King of Pop.
